How did Network IQ start?

Born in Barcelona

Research on Network Intelligence

Accelerating with J&J
Global Team

Network Intelligence is an outcome of the EIT Alumni Startup Days in Barcelona in 2018.

The hackathon was to inspire the transformation of a post-industrial Badalona Port into an innovation district such as the famous 22@Barcelona. It failed to trigger change… despite great ideas, great talent, and access to power networks…

They did not have the right Network IQ skills!

As experts in system-level innovation, we realized that to accelerate tech transfer and system-level change, people must have a strategic networking capacity at the ecosystem level- across the silos of business, academia, and government.

With the Network Thinking Masterclass, we launched the research on Network Intelligence to develop a way to standardise networking competencies for innovation.

Watch a unique keynote by Prof. Manuel Castells, the #1 Communication Scholar in the World, and a live discussion moderated by Dr. Daria Tataj, one of the key experts on innovation networks.

In 2019, we were one of nine (out of 30k) applications selected for an acceleration programme for women founders funded by Johnson&Johsnon, Taproot Foundation, and Vital Voices Global Partnership.

Thanks to the wonderful support of the J&J Global Team, we made a deep dive to codify Network Intelligence through the Network IQ Index and developed a market entry strategy.

Ten days before the Covid lockdown in March 2020, we delivered the first workshop to test our solutions at the Masood Entrepreneurship Center at Alliance Manchester Business School.

Since then Tony Walker and his team at MEC have been wonderful “partners in crime”, disruptors, adopters, and advocates of Network Intelligence.

During these breakthrough years, working 100% online, across Europe, the US, and Australia, we validated Network Intelligence methodology.

We are grateful to our early adopters for helping us make it!

Thanks, TU/e Eindhoven University of Technology, Eindhoven Engine, UNESCO, EIT Health Spain, IASP, Top 500 Innovators, and partners at the  EntreUnity, part of the EIT HEI Initiative for entrepreneurial universities.

Preparing for the scale-up phase, we strengthened our team by welcoming Paul Marca, Tim Wasserman, Paul Tolchinsky, and Dorothy Dabrowski.

Paul and Tim bring in 50+ years of Silicon Valley experience. Dr. Tolchinsky is one of the most experienced organisational design consultants. Dorothy is a power networker and for over 20 years was the Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Warsaw.

We are firm believers that with Network IQ strategic solutions, we have the perfect product and the perfect team at the perfect time!

MBA 2019, ESADE Barcelona

 I learnt quite a few things at Tataj Innovation! During my internship I learnt how to build interpersonal relations, develop a market entry strategy, do business development and work on fundamental business planning for start-up.

Moreover, I also learnt a lot about market research. And foremost about innovation and network thinking, which is helping me now a lot when I work on innovation projects at Siemens. I know a lot how to get to the right resources.

What We Are Good At

We build digital skills and mindset to innovate
and grow with a purpose in mind

We are experienced in skilling and reskilling talent in health, technology, research & education. We facilitate building successful & diverse e-Teams, partnerships, communities, and networks.

Every few years, the world is hit by a crisis: natural disasters, economic crises, and even pandemics. At the same time, every year a new discovery promises to heal a disease that had never been cured before, a tech solution to teach 700 million illiterate people how to read and finance women-led businesses.

Through our solutions, we empower people to change the world by creating more effective e-Teams. We are proud if they build the networks to protect them from tomorrow’s unpredictable future.

Network IQ Alliance

The project calls for harnessing the power of networked communities to scale-up and accelerate the impact of entrepreneurial universities, enabling them to:

  • build forward better ecosystems both physical and digital;
  • use existing and new networks more effectively;
  • direct better capacity building for stakeholder and client success;
  • optimise existing networks for better sharing, selling, innovating, partnering and fundraising;
  • build self-confidence, responsible leadership and change leaders;
  • address the innovation ‘stickiness factor’ for long-term benefit;
  • drive real social change at scale in the research and innovation community.

Network IQ Alliance partners aim to accelerate the health, manufacturing, green and digital transformation, and deepen the integration of industrial regions, which are Emerging Innovators with regions that reinvented themselves and became Moderate and Strong Innovators.

Through the Innovation Vision Action Plan, the project aims to execute and act on the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) Strategic Innovation Agenda. Network IQ Alliance is focused on transforming individuals and teams with skills to immediately reach out to their network, procure resources, achieve purpose and objectives for immediate success and long-term impact – all using technology.

During the pilot phase the project will:

  • support five innovative SMEs via multidisciplinary research teams;
  • train 130 students with nIQ skills for developing innovation, fundraising and global market access, including 15 students mentored;
  • train 15 academic staff and mentor 5 in nIQ to embed in their HEI’s innovation/entrepreneurship education;
  • train 15 non-academic staff and mentor 5 to embed nIQ in their HEI’s strategy and processes;
  • establish two nIQ ‘train the trainer’ centres at HEIs for popularising the methodology;
  • form one new collaborative partnership in the knowledge triangle.

The Network IQ Alliance results and outcomes will be successfully translated into real-world impact aligned with the priorities of EIT Manufacturing, EIT Health, ETI Digital and EIT Climate.
